In the News
This weather will make my week very interesting, as I have doctor appointments to take my mom to. The bitter-cut-through your skin chilling wind has me thinking about homeless people.
Some will find shelter to get out of this freezing temperature, and some may not! It is disheartening to think that they must spend the night under the cover of a bridge some where. I regularly see at least one spot filled with blankets under the bridge near my home.
Although my church opens for free lunch three times a week, I wonder if they would open the gym tonight to house the homeless. The news also called for extreme measure to take outdoor pets in as it will only take 4 minutes to freeze.
On the lighter side, my questions are:
1) What is the weather like in your part of the world?
2) What does it take for your area to close schools?
Joining Thursday Two Questions!

it's freezing here, the schools usually close for a snow day. Stay warm Icy!
ReplyDeleteThanks to the 60 mph winds we had to work this Sunday. There were 120,000 ppl w/o service at 2 a.m. and they called us throughout the day. I felt so bad for them - they were cold!!!
ReplyDeleteWhile living in NY I saw many people living in cardboard boxes or the subways. I spoke to two of my children today who had all their kids at home from school today because it was so cold. I'm not sure how cold it should be but it seems when I was a child school never closed except for summer and spring break.
we have beautiful weather here, i wish we can share some of the warmth to there
ReplyDeleteOh, Icy 1 degree? I cannot even imagine. The temperatures a few weeks ago in the mornings here hit around 35 to 40 degrees and it was terrible so I can't even fathom what you are going through.
ReplyDeleteHere in SF, one day it could be in the high 60's as it was yesterday and today it is raining. It changes all the time.
I have lived here all my life and never remember the schools being closed for anything weather related.
Like you I worry about the homeless on the streets. There are just not enough shelters around for them.
Its winter here in Mumbai and the temperature hovers around 20 degree celcius. Very pleasant weather. The schools rarely close down here in Mumbai but its most likely in the rainy season when sometimes there can be extremely heavy downpour.
ReplyDeleteHope you have a lovely day :)
1) What is the weather like in your part of the world? It is cold here, has been cold for a while now. I am usually in my office with a portable heater.
ReplyDelete2) What does it take for your area to close schools? Just bomb threats, or vandalism.
Stay warm.
I have some cool raining days recently.
ReplyDeleteI love to see snow, but I cannot stand the weather.
The weather, hot or cold has always brought to mind the homeless and I keep wondering what are they doing, have they secured shelter from the cold or heat or have enough water. It just weighs on my heart at times.
ReplyDeleteRight now it's (the paste few days) been 70s. So warm and nice sun.
Before it was 50s in the days and 30s at nights. freezing, but no snow.
Our schools had to close a couple days ago when we had such severe rain that caused flooding. So it all depends.
Please be safe!
I often think of homeless folks during cold weather. I live on the coast in Southern California and we really don't have any weather. It's pretty much always mild. Some people might find it boring, but we like it this way.
