Pretty Little Bird

Little Bird
One great thing about winter is that all the trees are bare to just branches, and it is easier to spot pretty little bird taking in some sunlight.

Car Rental For A Short Trip

We had been planning a trip to Kalahari, in Ohio for quite some time, but life happened and we had to postpone it. The reasons were varied, such as the kids could not get the time off on the same day, the weekend that we wanted was all booked, or the day we wanted to go the price doubled, or our car decided to stop working.

It seemed as though the universe was trying to tell us something, or they were signs that we should consider taking seriously. In either case, we temporary put the trip on hold but knew that Kalahari was our destination for a short family fun trip.

A few months ago, we finally had a group of seven people that wanted to go. This time the problem was, we needed a vehicle that would be big enough to fit all of us. We wanted to travel as a family, spent fun time on the road, and stayed together as much as we could.

Thus, we decided to go for a discount car rental and acquired a mini-van. It was the best solution for our group, since there were only two volunteer drivers. Although, Kalahari was only two and a half hours drive each way, but everyone seemed to dose off due to boredom, because the way home was not as exciting as on the way there.

Mum Flowers In Winter

Behold the Beauty of Mum
Flowers have spoken to me more than I can tell in written words. They are the hieroglyphics of angels, loved by all men for the beauty of their character, though few can decipher even fragments of their meaning.

Get Your Business Cards Ready

I have always thought that business cards are only used by business people, or people who own a business. It is not so, however, writers, bloggers, artists, Etsy shop owners, or Ebay shop owners should also consider carrying business cards with them for promotional purpose.

Recently, I met a lady from church, who runs a second hand clothing shop, asking for my business card when she found out that I write reviews on my blogs. She was surprised to know that I have none, and suggested that I should look into this. She wanted to take some of my cards to pass to her clients, and put some by the cash register of her shop to help promoting my "business".

It is odd that I never thought of my blogging/writing as a business before, but I took her advice and start looking for a place to print business cards. NextDayFlyers.com has a great selection of different designs, from photography, food, artist, entertainment, to dancing and more for you to choose, or you can easily upload your own logo to represent your business.

Moreover, pricing at nextdayflyers.com is also affordable, and it is listed with Better Business Bureau with no complaint for the last three years. You can learn more about this site, and how easy it is to design your business cards by clicking on the link.

A Watch Is Still a Needed Device

Like many people, I depend on my cell phone, and the clock in my car to tell me the time . I didn't see the need to have a watch, as I also was not fond of wearing jewelry. It didn't occur to me that I might need a watch some time in my life.

In November, however, while taking a cruise trip to Mexico, my phone had to be turned off, and I frantically asked for the time from passerby on the ship. It hit me finally that having a watch was crucial when all the other gadgets were not available.

As soon as I got home, I searched online for ideas of what type of watch I would like to have, and came across Invicta watches. Their affordable price was unbelievable, and I like their
high quality products, different styles, colors, shapes, and a variety of trusted brand names, such as Seiko, Bulova, Gucci, Casio, Fossil, Dolce and Gabbana, etc.

Upon learning that my son accepted a job at sea, I have him looked for a watch of his liking on this website, and picked out one. I insisted that he would need one for those days when his cell phone would not be in service. His job as a sommelier required him to be on top of things, and be at his obligations on time anyway.  Thus, a watch is still needed and not as obsolete as I have previously thought!

Read Between the Lines

When I was younger, I was taught to "read between lines"! What I meant by this is, don't take what people tell you for its face value. You always have to look for what they don't say. You have to understand what they were not telling you. In other words, you must develop a deeper thinking process!

Crawfish Pasta With Okra

Crawfish Pasta
On February the second, my oldest son took us out to dinner before he left for a job on the Princess Cruiseline as a sommelier. Needless to say, we would not see him for the next 6 months or so.

Design Your Own Unique Wedding Invitation

The most popular month for couples to consider tying the knots has to be June. Now, this I was told by a dear friend who has a daughter's wedding to plan for. She said almost every weekend in June has been booked to the max.

I have no idea how to plan for a wedding or what involves as far as wedding go. Sure, there has to be a check list for beginners to follow, and when it is time for me to plan one, I will make sure to follow the check list.

ID Card Holder and Printer

Have you take a look at your wallet lately? Do you know how many identification cards you are carrying every day? My own personal ID cards range from 10 to 15 pieces if I don't clean out my purse once in a while.

I have some cards that were not constructed with heavy duty plastic; thus, they seemed to get worn out by wear and tear. These are the cards that I would love to protect in the ID holders such as my social security card, bank card, health care card, library card, etc. I do not like to go through the trouble of replacing these cards nor having to pay a fee for them should they get ruined.

Be In the Midst of Downtown Austin

Having two nieces going to Austin University, I always want to have a chance to visit them in this well known city of music, cultural, and diversity. I have heard so many good things about Austin way back when considering a move to Texas years ago. Though we only made it to Houston a couple of times, I regretted for not having push harder, and gone to Austin on those occasion.

Maybe in the future when it is time for retirement, I would look for condos downtown Austin and be right in the midst of it all. I am not sure if it is true or not, but people have been telling me that the weather in Austin is much more pleasant than in Houston. There is great music, different ethnics, fantastic food, and also friendlier society on the list of praise!

Living in Michigan, I always have a desire to be somewhere else since I rather prefer the sun than snow. I believe there is so much more life for a person in warmer weather. The day is longer and nicer to entice people to be outdoors.

Austin downtown condos are where my sisters and I will be retired to. Well, at least it is one of the places on our wish list at the moment. Seriously, we are making plan for our retirement years already to live close together since we are currently spreading apart in different states.

On Energy Issue

As much as one wants to stay uplifting, inspired, and positive; winter in Michigan can put a damper in mood changes. We have more dark, gloomy, cold and dreary days than sun lights. On these kind of days, we have no choice but turning up the heat and the lights.

My winter energy bills are something that I am not looking forward to open, especially the heating bill. It is always a shock to my eyes and my pocket. I have considered switching to different provider to supply my energy needs for my home, but we are limited to only two companies, and one doesn't offer coverage for my area.

It would be a blessing to have choices as this would be such a benefit for consumers, and that no one company could monopolize the market.  Private companies that provide energy deregulation for electricity and natural gas services are out there to do just that, giving consumers a cost-effective choice for their needs.

When there are more companies in competition, they have no choice but to come up with a better solution to offer their clients, and I can't wait to have the option to save on my energy bills. Right now, I will just have to clench my teeth in paying my heat bill every month.

Frost On Dried Leaf

Covered With Frost
Each of us has that right, that possibility, to invent ourselves daily. If a person does not invent herself, she will be invented. So, to be bodacious enough to invent ourselves is wise.

Pretty Pink Blossoms

Updates: This flower has been identified as Barbados and the scientific name is CAESALPINIA PULCHERRIMA by guild-rez!

These photos were from my archives two years back, and must be put to use as I have taken nothing else except for sky photos.

I have no idea what they are, but they are very pretty to see at this time of the year when the earth around me seems to sleep.

These flowers were at the Belle Isle Conservatory, but they were not the permanent residents. Thus, I haven't seen them since and I could not find their identity. Have a great weekend!

Prescription Savings Club at Walgreens

This post brought to you by Walgreens. All opinions are 100% mine.

What would you do with ten cents a day for your entire family? If you could just put these pennies away every day, you could enroll in Walgreens Prescription Savings Club and give your spouse, your children who are 22 and under the prescription drugs coverage. This prescription savings club also includes your pets. Yes, your pets, and their prescription is also covered.

For $35 per year, the family plan will get these benefits:
  • discounts on flu shots
  • pet prescriptions
  • nebulizers
  • diabetic supplies
  • savings on more than 8000 brand-name
  • all generic medication
  • bonuses when purchase Walgreens brand products
  • photo services discounts
Amazing what 10 cents a day can provide for a family, is it not? For individual, it is only $20 dollars annually, which comes out to five cents a day. I don't think there is a better way to spend money and save money than this Walgreens deal.

My co-pay alone is already $10 dollars every time I visit the pharmacy, and if I could save a bit more with Walgreens prescription club, it would be even greater.

To get more updates, follow Walgreens on Twitter and like Walgreens on Facebook . This is a good way to help supporting Walgreens so other people can take advantage of the benefits and save money at the same time.

Reupholstering My Antique Furniture

Guest post written by Danielle Simpson

I've collected quite a few antiques over the years that I've collected from family, friends and estate sales. But I don't always try to pick out the best pieces of furniture. Sometimes you have to think about the bare structure of a piece of furniture instead of the fabric and think about what you can do with it. I think it's always more fun to do that anyway.

Things have been so busy with the holidays though that I haven't been able to work on that stuff for a while. While I was online looking up any additional upholstering techniques or tips, I ran across some info on Home Improvement. After I looked through the info some I decided to use them to replace our roof because it's been looking so badly lately.

I got this one great chaise lounge at an estate sale back in October. I think it's one of the toughest peaces that I've reupholstered but I think that it's going to come out looking really great. At least I hope so because I've spent quite a bit of time on it!
