Talk Or Text?
With so many different ways for us to communicate nowadays, such as chat through gmail, chat on FaceBook, Yahoo messenger, messaging on Twitter, Skype, email, and text on mobile phone, I realize that I don't do that much "talking" anymore.
Even with my close neighbor who lives virtually down the street, we only text when there is an important thing to talk about. Other than that, we barely see each other for months. Have we all become introverts with technology availability? Who needs to talk when we can just type a short sentence, and be done with!
Yup, I am guilty as heck! I even text JoJo when he is upstairs to come down instead of yelling for his name! I chose to order take-out online so I don't have to make the call and talk to the real person. If there were a text option, I probably would go for that too.
Not only I became lazy in talking/communicating, I became even more of an introvert person in which my world is the "virtual online world". What about you?
1) How often do you get in touch with your family and friends the old fashion way, you know, the long heart to heart phone conversation?
2) Are you a "talker" or "texter" or both?

Oh, definitely a texter these days! I've always been a loner, but these days I'm even more so. And as I get older and the knees get grumpier, I'm happy to be able to communicate with so many friends/bloggers without anymore wear and tear on them. Hope your week is going well!

For family and some close friends, I am still a talker, and hubby tells me "how come I have all the time to talk", you know how a heart to heart talk can last a lifetime :) haha!
ReplyDeleteI do not text, but I use YIM mobile to send quick messages, or send itext to those i know have iPhone because it is free, but I did not pay extra for texting.
I wish though that family can get in touch through blogging, hahahaha.
I still like to call my family and close friends. Texting just isn't the same. But then, it's great for introverts like me - in some situations.
ReplyDeleteI'm a talker! I hate texting! I think it's ruined most people's manners. Anywhere and anytime...
ReplyDeleteI actually had the ability to send and/or receive texts disabled on my phone. Now that I think about it, I don't really like to talk on the phone that much either. face to face for me. Email and regular mail are fine as well...
I LOVE that I can g-chat on my cell because you can g-chat across the world for little or nothing. My Android loves to suggest words so if I am not careful I can say some of the craziest things!! I have been a huge texter for a long time, as before I graduated to Alltell I used tracfone and texting was cheaper than calling. Hubby doesn't like to text though as he has to pay extra on his plan, so we call one another.
ReplyDeleteI'm a texter, maybe unfortunately!
ReplyDeleteBoth. Depends on what I have to communicate, whether it's a short piece of information, confirmation on something, or a long talk session.
ReplyDeleteoh, it is Thursday again...your blog is my weekly reminder haha, first of all, that photo looks like one captured by a queen as always...talk or text? both...haha, for important matters I prefer calling...texting is cheaper though...when the hubby is at work, we spend minutes talking over the phone...sometimes he complains that he spends a lot talking to me haha, happy week on your side of the world! :-) oh yes I am guilty of texting my son just to call him for dinner time haha, :D
ReplyDeleteI do both but not very much. Most of my communication is be email on my computer. I use my cell phone for important communication by phone and I do little texting. Texting is difficult for me with those little buttons :)
ReplyDeleteI communicate with family through emails and texting! Talking would required the full attention and carving out time. Texting has been able to keep me attached to my family and that is good!
ReplyDeleteEven drooping the little purple flower is still pretty.
ReplyDeleteI use texts for quick messages or an exchange of information. It is so easy and no busy signals. If there are details of an event or planning to be done I will call. I'm really not one for spending long periods of time on the phone. I guess to answer your question, I am a texter.
High tech makes us closer, yet very far apart at the same time.
ReplyDeleteThat is interesting take on it. I think technology doesn't affect whether we are introverts or extroverts too much. Maybe for introverts it just help them to hideaway even more but for extroverts, it would light them up to have too many friends, go too many places etc etc.
ReplyDelete1. I don't really keep in contact with family too much..nor they me. Maybe I should do more...
2. I don't text unless it's an emergency. I prefer to talk quickly and get it done :)
Happy weekend!
