Observing
There are a few things that I've noticed this year in my surroundings, and those are: more butterflies, birds hang out longer, new wild flowers, and my tulips plus allium flowers didn't bloom. It had to do with the warm winter we had, and the odd weather in March I think.
One noticeable wild flowers in my yard this year is this beautiful fleabane, with a trim of lavender color on their petals, which I didn't have last year. The petals are thinner and stringier than the wild asters, which usually bloom later in the summer.
So far, we have a pattern of hot spell for two days, and then back to cold for the next few! If I am not mistaking, the flowers are very confused as well.
It's Thursday, so here my Wandering Thought comes in to play:
1) Do you notice strangeness in the weather where you live?
2) Do you have any special plan for this summer?
Come on, join us at Thursday Two Questions!

Dazzling photo ~ Wow ! Nice macro shot ~ thanks, ^_^
ReplyDeleteThat lavender fleabane is beautiful Icy, great shot.
ReplyDeleteYour weather sounds a lot like ours, hot one day and then in comes the rain and cool temps. My tulips bloomed but almost as soon as they did it started raining and the petals were gone.
No special plans, we might take some short driving trips but mostly stay close to home.
I only got half as many tulips, but my dianthus bloomed in the front and back yard and I never planted them back there! They are a very vibrant red, when the front yard are pink and hot pink. My kids peony bush grew like crazy in a matter of days. Their landlady cut it down to about a foot tall and it grew amazingly quick and has awesome blooms. Before I became your friend and a blogger, I was not as observant. I feel like a veil has been lifted and am loving Mother nature!!
ReplyDeletei don't really see strangeness maybe because each year we have very predictable weather :) haha. but it was too dry this year for us which i did not like because there were not a lot of wildflowers compared to other years.
ReplyDeleteI shall not have any special plan for summer.
ReplyDeleteI have summer the whole year.
I do, we still have 60, 70 degrees, it should be warm by now, but not! I am so dissappointed, it seems like we are colder each year. I am sure I wrote about how cold our summer was last year and the year before, but this year tops the cake.
ReplyDeleteI don't plan on a big trip, but about to temp SO into another VN trip next year... I hope.
There is always strangeness from time to time. For instance, we just didn't have much in the way of winter this year and spring has been warmer than past years. Blah! Nope, we don't have anything really planned for this summer except we (DH & I)may try to have some alone time before DS starts college this fall. He'll be living at home - no moving off stuff. lol. That would be horribly expensive, huh?
ReplyDeleteThat is a lovely flower - I've not seen one like that before. We have just had a lovely couple of weeks weather, raining today though. I'm off work next week so hoping for another lovely spell.
ReplyDeleteYou have no idea how strange our weather has been all year. More on the plus side so I am not complaining. Too much.
ReplyDeleteI've got a couple of trips planned and jury duty.
Have a great Thursday!

Icy, what a gorgeous photo, just stunning.
ReplyDeleteWhere I live we really don't have seasons so it could be in the 70's one day and foggy and cold the next. What I have notice recently which is a little strange is that we have been having very humid days.
that fleabane is beautiful! Summer seems to have come really early although we've made no plans so far!
ReplyDeleteWe had a cold winter but the weather is now true to form - getting warmer every day. This summer we need to paint a lot of rooms in our house. Not fun :(
ReplyDeleteSuch lovely macro shot...
ReplyDeleteBest regards, Karin
That is a beautiful flower.
ReplyDelete1. I do notice a few strange things about our weather, but I am usually prepared for the strange now because I know where we live.
2. I have a few things lined up for the kids so they wont be stagnant. Nothing really for me. We'll see what else comes along.
Have a lovely weekend!
the lavender fleabane shot is awesome Icy! ..yes I've been noticing erratic climate on our side of the world too...seems like Mother Earth needs pampering from humanity...
ReplyDeleteSummer is saying goodbye to us here...the kids and I had several adventures the past weeks...blessed day! :-)
There's definitely strangeness here. One day it's warm, the next, it feels like winter - even now.
ReplyDeleteThis summer I have no special plans. I just hope it's different from last year weather wise, so we can go for more walks, lay outside and do summer things that don't involve going indoors for activity and spending money :-)
All the weather is strange where I live because it is different than where I used to live. My only plans this summer is to go to every nature park I can.
ReplyDeleteI don't know these flowers at all but they are so pretty with the fringed petals....it's still cool here in the San Francisco area...but, in two weeks, I'm sure I'll be missing it as I'll be facing 110 degrees in parts of India.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photo. We have more birds and butterflies too, but everything is growing faster than we can keep up.
ReplyDeleteDarryl and Ruth :)
Nice photo! We don't have real seasons where I live. It is pretty much mild all the time. Because we don't work, we don't do anything special in summer, because we're retired. We can do what we want at any time.
