Bottle Brush Flowers
Bottle Brush Flowers Against Blue Sky
Back in November 2011, I had a chance to visit my sister's home in Santa Barbara for a short two nights and one day stay before going on our cruise trip vacation. In her back yard, she has this huge bush of bottle brush flowers, and I was amazed with their beauty.
I am the sort of person that doesn't travel well. I woke up quite early, and tipsy into the back yard looking at her flowers, and was humiliated by the hummingbirds teasing. They loved these bottle brush flowers and dashed quickly from flower to flower. I was denied by these hummingbirds with a decent photo of them.
Bottle Brush Flowers And Bird
During the short time that I was there in Santa Barbara, the weather was gloomy, and gray. Thus the top two photos showed how I tried to capture the hummingbirds in vain, but not very successful. The last photo was taken on the day that we left for the cruise ship with sunshine and blue sky. Go figure, :-(

Icy, that is a sensational shot. You know I have never been able to get a good shot of bottle brush. Your pic is just so vivid and beautiful. Great job.
ReplyDeleteThese are pretty flowers. Who could blame the humming bird?
ReplyDeleteLove the bottle brush flowers. Well done! Happy Spring!
ReplyDeleteThe red flowers pop on the blue sky. Gorgeous!!!
ReplyDeleteI remember the first time I saw the Bottlebrush. I too was amazed. It so looked like the bottlebrush I used to clean my babies bottles. Your mosaic is lovely and I bet you enjoyed those little hummers. Visiting from Mosaic Monday. Now a new follower. I have a new linky party and would love you to share sometime!
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Jann

ReplyDeleteYou need to negotiate with the bird.
ReplyDeleteLook for a win-win solution.
How about a dinner?
Calling by as another Macro Monday participant, I love bottle brush flowers but there are not many in our. They survive the summer ok but the cold winters seem to finish them off. :(
ReplyDeleteThe flowers look very pretty against the sky. Better luck with the hummingbirds next time.
ReplyDeleteWell, you eventually got a great shot of the hummingbird, didn't you. Everyone knows how hard they are to photograph, especially close up.
ReplyDeleteYou got some great photos. These bushes are in full bloom right now in Florida! They are so unusual and neat! ♥

ReplyDeleteVery pretty! They remind me of the fairy duster plant we see in Arizona.
ReplyDeleteI saw the flowers and thought they look like a bottle brush, then I look at the name and I was right on. I didn't even know there is such a flower with that name. Beautiful !!!

oh, very beautiful shots, Icy, you really make flowers look so beautiful in your eyes and lens.
ReplyDeleteThose are such beautiful flowers. I like that birds and butterflies love these. The only time I have seen them in person was visiting Southern CA like you. Don't you wish they would grow in the northern part of the country?
ReplyDeleteThat is quite the interesting plant. Very nice capture.
ReplyDeleteI like these beautiful shrubs, but unfortunately they do not grow with us....nice shot..you have captured very well ....
ReplyDeleteBest regards, Karin
