Neighborhood-Thursday Two Questions #57
Our house is currently wedged between renters, and they are all single-lazy I might add- men. On my left side, the guy barely got out of the house to do any maintenance work so now we have huge weeds and tree growing too close to my driveway.
On my right side, the guy did some outside maintenance, but used bad words like nobody business if he ever was out. Often, he parked his car in the back of the house, blasted country music, drinking cases of beer, and cursing at the moon.
It is an interesting mixed of different people on our street since the economy hit. Homes are abandoned, and renters move in and out every few months. This is the only change that I have seen around here.
1) Have you noticed what's going on in your neighborhood?
2) Are your neighbors considerate, or friendly, or helpful?

Now that I think of it, we actually have long term neighbours surrounding us as the neighbourhood matures, I see the kids growing up and some are moving out, etc. A few houses have changed owners with younger families moving in, the circle of life!
ReplyDeleteYou know, life in the neighborhood isn't the same as I remember growing up. Everyone knew each other and always lent a helping hand. Now, it seems no one even know who is living along side them.
ReplyDeleteIt's such a shame becuase if you ever needed a neighbor, they aren't there. Also, you can have a moving truck pull out and empty a house and no one knows the difference between moving and being robbed.
I suppose you have no HOA's so that is no help.
I think you could try and talk to your neighbors, but good luck there. HA.
I feel for you. Maybe one day things will improve and neighbors will see how important we are to each other,

We have a mix of neighbors here. Many are renters and many are businesses that have been here quite a while. I've been renting here for over 30 years so I've been here longer than anyone else.
ReplyDeleteI find that the businesses are much more friendly and helpful than people who rent homes. Loud music for me is a huge annoyance and I hate it.
what a very beautiful picture. as to our neighbors, they are mostly considerate, though may not be super friendly, but there is respect for each one I guess. our HOA will remind us if we won't take care of the weeds in our yard or will make the yard look ugly.
ReplyDeleteApart from one strange family who are moving next week, I am lucky to have great neighbours. I hope your neighbours change for the better.
ReplyDeleteI unfortunately have horrible neighbors on both sides of me. Messy, inconsiderate and loud. Cops frequent the one side at least every other week. Used to be a great neighborhood too...
ReplyDeleteYou've a very lovely macro there and am sorry that you have terrible neighbors.
ReplyDeleteI live in a street that is a mixture of young and old ...I live fairly close to the university so worry every time a home comes up for rent that I will get noisy inconsiderate students.. (students have become quite awful this past lot of years showing very little respect). So far though not so bad!
ReplyDeleteHave a good day!
Thank God, our neighbourhood hasn't been so badly hit by the economic downturn. Mind you, we moved recently, so we don't really know what's going on where we left.
ReplyDeleteAround here, most of the people are older, so they've had their homes for a long time.
I'm lucky that I have good neighbours. :)
ReplyDeleteI don't notice much, no one comes out of their houses. We are the only ones that really spent time in the front and in our yards. Other than that, we are pretty happy where we are.
ReplyDeleteThey are neighbors that likes to keep to themselves and along those lines, I don't dare ask them for anything.
Mostly my neighbors are black bear, white tailed deer, snow shoe hare, squirrels, fox, and coyotes. They don't all get along. But it's still nice having them around!
ReplyDeleteThat is interesting neighbors. I'd hope they'd move out.
ReplyDelete1. I've noticed that the police doesn't patrol our neighborhood as often as when I moved in. We have sex offenders on our street. or the nex street.
2. Our neighbors seems respectful and friendly. One baked me cupcakes when we first moved in :)
On one side there is lots of traffic and a little one who runs around outside in his underwear and not much else most the time. Today it was so windy and cold that I had two shirts, a blazer and a raincoat and was hugging them to me... He didn't even have shoes on and his father would send him inside and he would run back out just as quick. lol
ReplyDeleteThe other side I have a neighbor whose child throws things out the window into my yard constantly and my fence was driven over by someone on their property and my fence stakes were broken at ground level. He claims no knowledge or responsibility. Both homes are rented.
Beautiful water drop Icy!
ReplyDeleteWe are so lucky, we found a house in a nice quite neighborhood at the end of a cul de sac. We have only lived here for a few years but so far the neighbors have been very nice.
