Thursday Two Questions #45-FaceBook Social Button
Learning is a never ending endeavor, especially when it comes to internet! You will learn at least one new thing everyday if you wanted too. As for blog owners, the "must know" is even more demanding than normal.
Every page you landed on carry either a Twitter button, Facebook Like button, Facebook Fan Page, Facebook Share button, and/or both! These two giant social media sites are the "talk of the town" these last few years.
I have installed the FB Like button on Wandering Thought, and the Share button on Beyond Wandering and Beyond Zephyr. I like both but not sure if it does anything more than that. I fooled around with the Fan Page too, but didn't want to have too many gadgets on the blog. Besides, I just don't think it does any good.
So here are my questions for this week:
1) What is your opinion about Facebook Fan Page, Share button, or Like button?
2) Do you have one of these gadgets on your blog? Do you see any spectacular different?

Icy, LOVE that gorgeous shot. Wow!!!
ReplyDeleteI think any advertising helps. Facebook and Twitter buttons make it easy for people to share content. I have them under my posts. What I have found that does really well is Stumbleupon too.
I didn't have these two, and do not have experience to "manage" them.
ReplyDeleteHi Icy I have accounts with both facebook and twitter. (I post up links to my blog in facebook now and then) & my twitter does it automatically now though don't ask me how I managed to work that one out!
ReplyDeleteWhen I check my stats there is very few visitors that come from either of these social network sites
I think it is mostly other bloggers who visit Geri's World with the exception of a few friends...Though it is not always easy to tell - because sometimes people say they visit (maybe it doesn't always show up in stats)
Anyway have a nice night!
I just have the Fan Page widget on both blogs, I still haven't put up any buttons yet. From what I have heard it doesn't seem to make that much difference. I keep meaning to add a Twitter button but haven't gotten around to it.
ReplyDeleteMost of my traffic comes from other blogs and Google searches.
I almost forgot, I wanted to tell you I love that shot of the water droplet. Great reflection!
ReplyDeleteIcy, for some reason I cannot leave a comment on your other two blogs, the comment form will not come up. I'll give it a try later.
ReplyDeleteJudy
I have a fan page for RS. I want to do one for diy projects because I haven't got many other gadgets on that blog.
ReplyDeleteI've got to retrain myself how to do it because I've forgotten :-)
When I have some spare time I'll do it. I think they're helpful where links and traffic are concerned. I may be wrong though.
1. I think they are useful but can be overused or have this peer pressure mentality about getting you to use them before you are ready to do so.
ReplyDelete2. yes I have these buttons on my blog. They are useful for my giveaways and reviews for social media.
I've seen a difference with visits.
Aloha!
I don't have Facebook, and I don't really understand it. I still put the Blogger gadget for it on my blog. I'm not sure if it helps.
ReplyDeleteI think if you're importing it in the posts, it works well with a "how to" something. Otherwise, it's strange to be tweeting a flower post...for example, right? So it doesn't make too much difference with the types of blogs we have.
ReplyDeleteThe FB fan page is really for the advertisers to measure the amount of social pull you have...that is if you're monetizing your blog. I don't build those things hoping for more traffic, or more readers, they are there for show. That is the honest truth today for me IcyBC...
oh, I have Facebook like, share and fan options in my sites, I do not know if they help, my FB visits is very little, not even 1% of my total visits a day. I think google searches and other search engines still is the best to give traffic to sites. how to optimize that, i still have no idea.
ReplyDeleteHey, I really like your image firstly!
ReplyDeleteI had a twitter link up but kind of agree with Self S. Anyhow, I know plenty of family and that on face book too, (I joined but ended up closing). Like twitter, for some reason I find it difficult to get into? Not as engaging..not sure? My 2 cents..wishing you a great weekend-
Goodness, I am not sure what helps. I do notice that I can get a review on link referral every week or so but am behind in returning the favor. I have a friend who moved all the way to the top by just reviewing five a day. Good for her!
