Thursday Two Questions #31-Blog Cleaning

I noticed this morning that Wandering Thought has over 540 posts! Yikes...that's a lot and where did the time go? With that many posts, I'm in the process of cleaning up my blog. Well, mostly re-arrange the labels or categories so I can prefer to it faster.

I've heard that Blogger allowed a certain number of labels, but I don't know the exact numbers. I'm not nearly done with this chore just yet, but I found so many dead links in my posts. Many of those links are from the blog parties, and some of them are no long in existence.

Here are my questions for the week:

1)  Do you on occasion "blog cleaning" such as delete posts, or re-organize labels or remove dead links?

2)  Is there a limit to how many posts we can have on our blogs?

  1. 1. I'm always playing around with the header and I do rearrange quite often but I don't check any of those links. Since you reminded me, I'll have to do that.

    2. I don't think there is a limit on posts but there is a limit on photos so you can check out your picassa account and buy more space if you need it.

  2. I'm doing just that at the moment. I'm trying to get some stuff into the groups I have on my title bar so that everything can be found with one click.

    It's a difficult chore.
I think a blog can survive with about 500 posts if it's occasionally updated. That material is enough for search engines to still recommend it to people surfing for information (I think).

I've recently removed my dates from my posts because I don't post very often. This year has been a very difficult one and blogging has taken a back seat.

  3. 1. I'm always changing things on my blog as it evolves. I'm even thinking of starting another one as my priorities change.
    2. I'm not aware of any limits on Blogger, and I'm not too concerned because my next blog (if and when) will be with Word Press.

  4. Yes..I do that! I don't have an archive up and had that link within..but didn't like the idea of dead links (like those you put back in the draft). I think there may be a limit on how many you have on one page? Not sure. I did pay (cheap) for photo storage though. Your image is pretty-

  5. Once in awhile I go through my blogs but I rarely delete a post. I have gone in and added some labels.

I have never seen anything to indicate a limit on the number of posts. I have well over 600 on The Road. There is a limit on photo storage however.

  6. i do some housekeeping on my blog every now and then like changing tags, deleting some tags.

i've also wondered if there is a limit to the number of posts, and photos.

  7. I am not doing much right now with my blog, smiles. But I do occasionally have gone in to clean up some photos and links that don't fit with the theme. It needs a thorough job though - I will have to do it again.
I read somewhere where there might be a storage limit, but again, if you didn't get it from Blogger - it is not trustworthy.

  8. I like to clean up my blog and make it neat.
HOwever I don't go back to re-do links and stuff like that.

I"m wondering too about the storage limit on posts. hmm.

    Interesting questions.

    aloha! :)

  9. I think that is amazing that you have over 500 entries. I don't have a blog so I am not sure if you could delete older posts.

  10. I am not aware of how many posts or links but did have to pay for more photo storage. I have deleted some of the tags, but some tags are the exact same and they list them twice?!
