Thursday Two Questions #30-Tag On Products

Oh bother! I'm sitting here trying to post and the back of my neck is scratchy! No, no, it's not a mosquito bite, and definitely not bed bug bite either. However, it is REALLY bugging me, and it is terribly uncomfortable.

What in the world is it?  It is the freaking tag on my shirt that gives me the scratchy kind of feeling! Every few seconds, I have to reach back, tug it this way, move it that way, or roll it under a layer of my shirt so my skin won't get so irritated.

I've wore this shirt before, and the tag didn't bother me but today it acted up as a weird phenomenon.  I try not to cut the tag off for fear that I won't be able to remember how to care for it, which brings me to the questions below:

1) Do you remove the tag off your clothing or on any products that you bought?

2) If you have removed the tag, how can you tell what size it was or how to wash it?

  1. I dislike tags for the same reason and cut them out! So I end up guessing the size sometimes (smile)..pretty flower btw.
    I yank stickers off too?

  2. Thanks for stopping by my blog! I always try to cut off the scratchy tag and hope I can leave the washing instructions! I guess I don't care about the size as long as it fits :)

  3. Tags drive me ccrraazzy! I read them and if there is nothing unusual, cut them off. Otherwise you can take just a few careful stitches in it so it does not move across your skin.

  4. Those tags in shirt collars are so annoying. I try to look for shirts with no tags or the tag is on the side seam. I do remove tags on the neck.

I try to only buy clothes that can be machine washed in cold water (to save energy) but if it needs special care I just hope that I will remember.

  5. Icy, first, that photo is amazing, I love it.

    1. Yes, I've removed tags and for the same reason you've mentioned. I did it the other day.

    2. I don't remember, I just let my wash and fold laundry worry about it :D

  6. What is going on with Wandering Thought? You just changed the colors again. :-)
    1) No I have the same fear as you about removing the instructions, I would cut them if there is more than one. I actually have been wearing my shirts inside out. Yup, I love it, no seem lines and no itches.
    2) I think over time, you just wear it without the worry of size and how to care for it. I wash most colors in cold water and warm for whites. So just the general rule applies for most clothes and dressy stuff, to the cleaners. :-)

  7. oh, first, love the new header, it is so sweet and meaningful. about the tags, yes, I do remove them for the reasons you mentioned. I usually buy shirts that I can machine wash so I do not have to worry about the instructions. I don't care much about the size as long as it fits me, though I often prefer to wear something loose.

  8. 1. I usually leave the tags on my clothing, unless, as with the shirt your are wearing, the tag becomes irritating.
    2. I usally buy clothing that can be washed by hand or machine. I can tell which articles need special care by the fabric. There's no mistaking wool or silk, for instance. Also, if it fits right, I don't care about the size. And if it doesn't fit right (when it once did), it's time to get some exercise and watch my diet.

  9. I usually don't remove the tags, but I had one or two tops that i just couldn't stand and that little extra piece of material had to go :)
how do I know what the size it - well if it dosen't fit it's not the right size :)

  10. hmmm i was so curious as to what the question will be:)...

i remember the other day i had this blouse whose tag was already torn on one side...by instinct one would usually pull on the other end to get rid of it but i felt it would be incomplete without the tag and it would look weirder without the tag than with a torn tag hehehehe, so until now it remains that favorite pink blouse of mine with a torn tag...no problem with washing i wash clothes using intuition:) ah on the size...it's easy to compare with the other clothes...i do not have many clothes for that matter :)...

  11. Yes, I often cut those annoying tags off! Most of my clothes are machine wash so I don't miss the washing instructions.

  12. I've had the same fear of removing some tags that get in the way. How will I know the size or how to care for it.

I have removed tags however but it was on something I knew didn't matter how it was cared for or size.

Maybe you could have a notebook for just this purpose to write down the info for each piece that you have to cut the tag? but you'll need a photo to go with it right?

  13. on clothing, i don't usually remove tags if they don't bother me. need the tags for care instructions.

  14. How about moving the tag to another seam only if you need the info?

  15. I usually wear a vest so I don't have to feel the scratchy tags. I generally buy garments which are machine washable 40 degrees. I can't be bothered with the easy care ones. I rarely buy those.
If at all I have to remove a tag, I know I can just dump the garment in the washing machine anyway.
