Thursday Two Questions #16-New Year Superstition

Let's us just celebrate the end of the year, but don't forget to count our blessings.  Though it was a very challenging year for me, I still include myself in the lucky poll. I've accomplished many things, and didn't accomplish some, but who is perfect?

I learn to gently pat myself on back for getting over the hurdles, and put one foot in front of the other to keep marching.  I learn to look for blessings among the chaos.

It's almost time to bring in a New Year, thus I wish everyone a fantastic one!  Thank you all for following, reading, subscribing, and commenting.  You're among my blessings!

1) What kind of superstitious things you do to bring in the New Year?
(For me, I open the front door to welcome good spirit in, and open the back door to let bad  evils out! Ok, I admit it, I didn't see anything different, just my habit I guess!)

2) Do you go out or celebrate at home?
(I stay at home with my sparkle drink, warm and snug to wait for the New Year! No driving for me after dark, old age has left its mark, :-)

1) I have no superstition that I follow. Though I would call it out if I see it.
2) I have never been out to celebrate New Year, it's not in my life cards.

Happy New Year.

1. the closest I come to superstitions I bring in to the New Year is my belief in serendiptiy and synchronocity.
2. We stay at home, where it's warm and cozy, have a coktail, and watch Anderson Cooper bring in the New Year in New York on CNN.

Though I've lived in the San Francisco area for the past 34 years, I still observe the Southern tradition of having black eyed peas, ham hocks and turnip greens on New Year's day.

I enjoy going out on New Year's eve for a purpose - ie, when my good friend and favorite jazz singer, Sony Holland, used to appear on Broadway, San Francisco, at Enrico's. Otherwise, I ring it in, safely, at home, with my cocktail, warm in my sweats, thinking of good tims and good friends in New Year's past.

I prefer to be at home, safe and sound for the New Year. I have a tradition of writing down my prayer requests and my faults on a slip of paper. At midnight I take the folded paper and place it in the only ash tray in my house :-) light it and pray to God. This is my symbolic way of releasing the list to God.

Have a blessed, happy, healthy, and prosperouse New Years!!

1) i don't have any superstition to welcome the New Year. i just make it a point to pray and give thanks.

2) for the past 5 years or so, i go out to celebrate New Year in the streets. the city i live in has fireworks, free concerts and street parties on New Year's eve until the 3 am of Jan. 1st.

Icy, I like your attitude concerning the old year and the new one. I especially like "I learn to look for blessings among the chaos.", well said.

1) I don't really do anything special, I guess I have no supersitions.

2) Hubby and I stay home and have a glass of bubbly. I've never been one for New Year's Eve parties.

This made me smile :-)
1. No. I'm not superstitious.
2. I usually stay in. Too many people are drunk and about. I can do without the chaos.
Last night I didn't even look for the fireworks. I heard them but stayed in bed.
I guess, as you said, old age (or getting old) has left it's mark.:-)
