Thursday Two Questions #13-On Endangered Species
You can visit this Nature Center at Belle Isle, and this place is an effort to preserve whatever they could for city dwellers like us. There were deer feeding time, butterfly area, bird watching area, and plenty of nature to explore.
The kids were quite fascinated with this bee hive. They spent the longest time watching the bees at work, and looking for the queen. Bees are in shortage these last few years, so having this bee hive to bring awareness is a great thing.
Yup, that were lots of bees behind the glass, and it was also educational as there was many signs on the wall the children can read about the bees.
The tube you see is what led the bees inside to outside. They were quite smart to return to the same place after collecting honey.
Here are my questions:
1) Can you name some endanger species?
2) How important is it to you to preserve these species?

Bald Eagle...I think any endangered species should be protected until such time the population of these animals are flourishing again. There needs to be proper balance in our environment, but not to the point where animals welfare out weight man's. The key is responsibility in all matters concerning our world.
ReplyDeleteHi IcyBC. I can't name one endangered species in particular. Guess my hope is that we can love and protect our fellow man as much as we love and protect our animals. Sometimes I think man will become the new endangered species.
ReplyDeleteThe bee hive would be such fun to watch, I would enjoy it as much as the kids.
ReplyDelete1) Polar bears, certain species of whales, wolves, the list is endless.
2) We and everything in our world are connected in one way or another. Even time a species goes extinct it effects us in some way no matter how small the creature might have been. If we don't become more responsible for our planet and our fellow creatures we might be on the endangered list ourselves one day.
The Bald Eagle was taken off the endangered species list. I live in the Pacific Northwest and it is glorious to see them soaring overhead.
ReplyDeleteAt the same time you can see Bald Eagles here, you can also see Orca Whales, but they are endangered. They are beautiful, majestic animals and our little island is one of the few pieces of land from which these wonderful creatures can be watched. Everywhere else one needs a boat.
The ecology of our earth is balanced. Everything has a place and a job. The primary thing upsetting the balance is mankind. It would be much better for all of the earth if we were an endangered species -- instead we (supposedly the only "intelligent" species) is overpopulating, polluting and otherwise the earth.
Icy, I could research and come up with a few, in fact Chan wrote an article about endangered animals, but the only one that comes to mind off the top of my head is the whooping crane, maybe a certain type of elephant (ivory tusks). We as humans truly need to give more respect to other forms of life.
ReplyDeleteInteresting place and looks like fun. Endangered species eh? We have our great Philippine eagle for one. Its sad coz its our national bird and they are becoming extinct. I guess for our bird, its really important coz where going to select another national bird when it disappers completely... ok I was kidding. I mean, every life is worth preserving I guess. Good thoughts here, thanks.
