Thursday Two Questions #10-On Beauty

Have you noticed the eyelashes on celebrities and models lately? They are curled way back, and so long that the lashes touched their eyebrows. It looks so ridiculous, and outrageous to me, but then I'm way behind the time.

I don't mind a little accentuating touch, but when I see those longer than a mile lashes, it just bothers me a bit. It looks fake and uncomfortable. It is not what I see on normal and real people! Then again, I'm a person that not uses lots of make-ups either.  If you look into my bag, you will find one lipstick, and one eye-liner; nothing more as far as make-up goes!

Here are my questions:

1) Do you know eyelashes have purposes too?

2) How do you dress-up your eyelashes, with mascara, curling them, or nothing at all?
The simplest way to make your eyes stand out, with little effort, is to find the right eyebrows arch to match the shape of your face.  It is so much healthier than putting a ton of mascara on your lashes.

  1. 1.) The only purpose that I know eyelashes serve is to keep dust and other small particles from entering your eyes.

2.) I wish I was blessed with long, full lashes, but unfortunately, I have to resort to curling my eyelashes, with a coat of mascara.

  2. Nice drawing! I think lashes help to keep bugs and dirt away from the eyes. I don't do anything to my eyelashes. :)

  3. From your article, eye lashes hinder dust or other forms of foreign bodies so that they won't go through our eyes. I have problems with mascaras but I used to wear them back then. Nowadays I don't have time to use them :)

  4. I believe eyelashes are meant to protect our eyes from dust and small particles.

I use mascara and a sometimes a curler but just enough to make them show up. I have very pale lashes and without mascara it looks like I have none at all.

I haven't posted my questions yet but will soon.

  5. I agree with everyone else. Eyelashes are supposed to keep sweat, dust and other small particles out of your eyes.

I don't use anything on my lashes. I'm only a blush and lipstick person. Have a great week.

  6. Aside the pleasent appearance eyelashes add to your eyes, then the primary function of them is to protect the eye.

Now in Tinsel Town, the elite wear fake eyelashes 99% of the time in ridiculous lengths that noone can ever hope to achieve by simply applying mascara. My eyelashes have never been long and full. Now that I'm 40-something, my lashes are thinner. For me, it's more essential than ever to apply mascara, eyeliner, and eye shadow to chase away the sign of aging. But, I'm no where near the Hollywierd status. I look like your everyday mom who's trying her best to get dolled up. =D

  7. Sometimes we forget that our body parts have purposes other than their appearance. Women's breasts, for instance. But I don't want to go there.

Since I'm blonde, I use mascara to darken and thicken my eyelashes and blush for my cheeks at the very minimum. It's amazing how those two small touches change the way I look and feel. It not only helps me psychologically, but people respond as well. I think when you take the time to enhance a few details on your face (not Hollywood overboard) it tells the world that you care. It says something about your attitude. Even my mother would remind me if I forgot. "You need a little color today," she'd say. And she was right.

I agree, shaping your eyebrows makes a huge difference to your appearance.

  8. 1. Eyelashes protect the eyes from dust, is what I was told and makes sense.

    2. I use mascara only when going out at night. I normally never use anything during the day.

  9. I don't have long lashes, and very light so I used a tad of mascara and a little bit of curl. I have a hectic schedule so I just have a light make up.

  10. Eyelashes are supposed to keep the particle out of your precious eye and protect your eye sight.

Lately, I use nothing, nada. I can barely get lip gloss on to keep my lips from drying out.
I do like to get made up to the hills when I have a chance to go out though. It's fun.

  11. I have long eyelashes and I didn't really know what their purpose was (besides keeping things out of your eyes) until I read your article.
