Unfinished Business

My observation at R.'s school seemed to work out very well for me, since I got to sit in another third grade teacher's classroom for my Math project. I had to interview him, wrote a 500 words paper, observed on his techniques, and how he taught the kids to solve problems. I was now spending more time at R.'s school, and saw him almost every day!

We had no interaction with one another, just looks, and occasional "hi" during school hours. When I first showed up to see my Math mentor, Mr. B., on a different day than Friday, R. stopped me at the door and asked, "Do you want to see me or something?"

I shook my head, "Nope! I have an interview with Mr. B."

He walked away but passed back and forth in front of Mr. B.'s classroom at least 10 times, while I interviewed my Math mentor. At the end, Mr. B. gave me many useful work books for my future references. We shared some laugh together since our older sons played soccer on the same team.

By the time I finished my interview with Mr. B, I thought that R. already left for home, but he didn't. He came out of his office and stopped me as I headed for the exit.

"Are you doing observation in Mr. B.'s class?" R. asked

"Yes, for my Math class!" I answered, "He also helped me understanding the school system for your paper. You are my last resource."

"I should be your first and only resource." R. said softly and walked back into his office.

I stood there in the hallway, speechless...

This man knew how to get to me, and turned up my feelings just when I toned it down a bit.
