Musing With a Purpose-Regret

Jan's death was quite a blow to my being, for I'm a person that can't deal with death very well. It affects me in ways of numbness, depressing, and lost of interests. It makes me questioning life in general. Sure, I accept death as part of our being on this earth. It's just going to take a long time for my mind to settle down.

Then there comes the regretful part. I regret for not keeping in touch with her, and I wonder why a friend that I've never met yet in real life could have such a deep impact on me. Jan was a great writer, a person, a woman, and a friend who on countless numbers trying to help me with freelancing jobs.

Jan and I organized a writers group for Stumble Upon and Digg to support each other after talking in a private chat room organized by our Triond friend, Darlene McFarlane. It was from this group of friends that we all came together. We met every Friday night in the chat room, shared lots of laugh, and whatever strike our fancy. Sometimes, we laughed so hard that we complained about the inability to type, stomach pain, and crying!

Those were good times for all of us even though we have not yet met! I regret for falling out of touch with her, and with so many others, but life is just so freaking busy for us all. We have to find ways to cope with the constant changes in the world, in our own life, and the work load we have to do.

Glynis said, Jan will be laid to rest on Friday, the 13 at 1:00 o'clock, UK time. Jan/Lizzie/Louie, you're gone, but you won't be forgotten. I'm honored to have known you, and that part I have no regret!

Rest, Jan, rest...Much love and respect to you, dear lady!

  2. Icy, this was a very nice tribute. She certainly was a prolific writer and I enjoyed reading a lot of her articles. She also had a great sense of humor.

  3. That is sad Icy. Well now you know moving forward, it is important to take time to care for people even though it is hard to do. I think we all have regrets and will regret even with trying our best. We can only be so much and do so much. On the positive note: {refer to my second sentence...Smiles}

  4. This is a very touching tribute to your friend Icy. Dealing with the death of an online friend is not all that much different than one we know personally.

  5. I'm really sorry for your loss. Life is indeed short and it reminds us that we need to make the most out of it. It is sad that she's already gone but I believe that her memories will remain to those she has left behind. It's not time for you to move on and cherish those happy memories you had together.

  6. This is a very beautiful tribute to Jan. I still can't believe that she is gone. She was such a wonderful writer and a good friend. I knew it had been a while since she had written, but I had no idea that this would have happened. My heart goes out to her family and all of the friends who will miss her.
