Musing With a Purpose-Facebook

Lately, I have spent lots more time on Facebook than before! Well, this is what I don't need right now, and I do have to learn to manage my online time better. Every few minutes, I got an update or message, and I just hop right over to Facebook leaving comments, or click "like" on my friends' status.

This is an addiction, I'm telling you, it is! I don't play games, send hearts, grow trees, or animals, or fling foods. I don't know how for the life of me. I only know how to accept hearts, flowers, and angels from friends. Other than these, I need "Facebook for Dummies"!

Once in a while, a friend catches me on, and we start to talk/text/type (whatever), and the next thing I know, thirty minutes flied by! I hate to be rude so I often wait for the other person to end first. Meantime, I'm multi-tasking like the greatest magician in this world.

I have a bunch of browsers open, Firefox, Google Chrome, Internet Explorer, and switch back and forth to leave comments, return comments, read friends' articles, or set up posts! You name it; I've done it. Oh yes, with a pat or two on my back for getting things done too. I was high on adrenaline, until I messed up!

I left comments calling my friends different names, and the sites didn't let me delete them! I was so embarrassed by my mistakes, and it makes me look-down-to-the-bare-bone STUPID! These sites are the sites I write at, so yes, unprofessional too!

I'm learning though

  • Concentrate on one task at a time
  • Spend only fifteen minutes on Facebook a day
  • Be self-discipline when I'm online
  • Be more efficient, and wisely with my time
  • Facebook can wait

  3. oh Icy, you cracked me up because I share the same trouble :( now, if I can only apply those 5 things you listed to myself, then, I believe my time online would be more purposeful. But then, I had been in these struggle for months ( remember my old post about blogging happiness where i almost quit blogging because I have no time since all my time is to Facebook?) and still could not manage to just spend 15 minutes of Facebook time a day. Haaaaaay, I wish, I wish, I wish! Hahaha! Now, you will be my lead, maybe we check on each other if we just used 15 minutes each day and how are we doing with our plans, haha!

  4. I don't spend a whole lot of time on Facebook...I do play Farkle but none of the other games...not enough time for that. I'm far too busy on my own blog and doing my photos, writing comments, etc. I really need to get out and walk!

  8. LOL! Time killers, that's for sure. I spend way too much time on FB and not enough catching up on all the great blogs. Lately though, I've been writing, so that's good. One of my friends blogged once about spending more time writing about writing, than actually writing itself. That kind of hit home for me. It's easy to do.

  11. Been there done that with the names, not on FB but blogger comments. Fortunately blogger will let us delete our comments and start over.

My internet connection has been down most of the week so I've had a forced break from FB and Blogger.

  12. I know the feeling. I have made mistakes like that too because I am doing too many things at once. I have been at facebook for a little while and there are still so many things that I need to learn about it.
