The Incredible Colors of Spring Flowers-Freesias
When I saw these flowers, my jaw dropped! The colors were just out of this world. They came in a little container, and were wilted. Some of the flowers were in full bloom and radiant despite the stage they were in.
I found these flowers in a supermarket, and was the only one left on the shelf. They are called Freesia, were a bit more than I could afford, especially when they were half dead.
Look at their colors! How gorgeous are these flowers! Have you seen one with these many beautiful vibrant colors all in one before? There were full of flowers so their branches were falling to the side.
I have not seen these Freesia before, and that little plastic sign in its pot didn't give me much information either beside the name. So I have to look them up online.
Freesias are grown from bulbs, and they are annual flowers! Their blooms are long lasting which made them a favorite to florists. Freesias also carry a sweet citric perfume. They need full sun and cool night temperature. It is advised to keep them well water while they are blooming, and the soil should be light and well drained.

Those Frescias are beautiful. Mom has some in her front yard and they are just so aromatic!
ReplyDeleteI have seen freesias in flower shops but very expensive, they looked like rainbows to me Icy!

They ARE beautiful, even on their way out...so to speak. My neighbor has a bed of all white...they are scrumptious too.
ReplyDeleteLovely springtime colors!
ReplyDeleteWe have them only as cut flowers and I adore their perfume. Your photos are beautiful even with the flowers half dead.
ReplyDeleteHave a nice weekend!
Your right....they are spectacular!!!
ReplyDeleteHPS!!

I haven't seen any of these here, but just the fact that so many colours can exist in one flower is remarkable. Next time you see them, maybe you should ask at the counter if you could have them for half price since they were only half alive. I've done that before. They'd rather give them to someone for half price than have to throw them out.
ReplyDeleteThose are beautiful!
ReplyDeleteIcy, they are gorgeous! I've seen freesia listed as an ingredient in lots of beauty care/perfumes. They are prettier than roses. I love your pictures. Now you have me curious and I am looking them up too. :-)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful flowers! :)
ReplyDeleteHappy belated Pink Saturday!
Greetings from Munich,
Birgit
They are so vivid in color and they are also very hearty flowers. Simply amazing shots, Icy.
ReplyDeleteIcy, the flowers are just beautiful. I love the colors that are blended together.
ReplyDeleteFreesia is so beautiful. I saw many of these last year but they were a little expensive for an annual. If they were perennials I might have considered planting some.
