One Beautiful Art Piece

As my friend and I hovered over the bar table on our barstools for a cup of coffee, we saw this piece of art and got into a heating discussion. For some reasons, we disagreed over the placement of the picture below in a coffee shop.

It sat on the window sill against the wall along with a few other pieces. My friend thought it looks great where it was, but me, I argue that it would be better if the owner hung it up to show how beautiful this piece really was.

My friend thinks it looks "homely" to have art pieces sitting against the wall, as she does in her own house. So back and forth we go on with our discussion, but at the end no one wins since it is not our place to decide.

What do you think? Should this piece be hanging up, or stays on the floor? I thought it would be fun to hear other people's opinion.

  1. Art pieces should always be hung somewhere. On a floor, against a wall tells me there is no respect for the artwork. And, this is a beautiful piece.

  4. Hang would be better. Picture frame is to be ob the wall and not on the floor.

  5. Hang it up. The picture is not big enough for that type of look.

  6. I think it's actually way too small to sit on the floor. I have a large mosaic panel that actually leans on the wall, however it's large enough so I can get away with it.

  7. I think it should be hanging too. I think that it should be in a spot where everyone can see it.

  8. It is a very beautiful piece but I would have to see the room itself to decide. I have a small painting sittings on the shelves next to my fireplace. It is too small for the wall.

I would never hang a small piece on a large wall unless it was in a grouping. I don't think there is a right place or wrong place it all depends on personal taste.

Maybe the owner had the piece on the floor until he/she had time to hang it.

  9. A stunning piece of art! Love how the selected pieces emboss the canvas! How can all those dimensions of the piece be really appreciated if not hung on a wall!

  10. I think it depends on the general decor of the place. Some art pieces look great hung up, but art on walls tend to go overlooked. It's just part of the wall paper or paint. On the floor however, it catches your attention because it seems out of place. I think you noticed it because it was where it was.
