Lavender Flowers in the Grass

During the summer months, along with our grass, these beautiful little lavender flowers were all over our backyard. Though I don't know the name, I found them fascinating and beautiful to take pictures.
Without my macro, I wouldn't be able to see all the little fuzzy spikes on this flower. This spread widely on one particular spot where the sun seemed to be constant shining. After the grass was mowed, they come right back up.
If there were no flowers in our yard, then we have these little ones to see every day. I like how the flower petals grow right out of its body, all the way around.
One the flowers fell off, they left these holes, which became great places for bees to feed on its nectar. I became very fond of these flowers. Any one knows what it is called?
Enjoy other entries at Mosaic Monday!
Update--Rosie at Leaves 'n Bloom identified these flower as Prunella. Thank you Rosie!

What a great idea to study a plant so carefully from different angels. Very lovely collage.Have a nice Monday!
Icy, I have to learn a lot of flower names, but the more I see the more convinced I am that there must be thousands, maybe even millions. :-)
They are nice and cheery though.
Have a beautiful and blessed day!
I love how the macro setting picks up such delicate details we would otherwise miss!

Flowers never fail to make me smile. Your collage is amazing. Thanks for sharing.
i have to say, that's a very intricate flower...yet to be seemingly so insignificant that we don't know the name. strange how life is. you've caught it beautifully, and definitely done it justice:)
You took some great images of this one! So pretty .. I believe it's Self Heal!
That last picture has got to be the most unique flower ever. It almost looks like a huge venus fly trap, on all sides! Awesome pictures.
Lovely compilation of these flowers.
I too grow this plant in my garden - only you can get pink and white ones too. In my garden its just the lavender coloured one that has seeded all over the place.
Its called Prunella
Beautiful mosaic of very lovely lavender flowers.
What an interesting flower! I imagine Dr. Suess studying a flower like this for his whimsical illustrations.
Pretty! Did you get a new camera yet? The shots are so wonderful!

You are very observant to find tiny treasures such as these in your backyard. The macros and mosaics are beautiful.
Imagine all the beauty we would miss if we never slowed down long enough to take a closer look. Really marvelous pics!
I love them! I think they're foxglove but I could be wrong, usually am, lol. :)
