If your child suffers stuffy nose or an irritating cough, rub his chest, his neck, and a bit behind the ears to help release congestion. You can buy Vapor Rub, or any balm that is made from eucalyptus or mint, at your local store. The rub breaks down the phlegm in the nose and chest.
Another trick I use when my son has the common cold is I rub the bottom of his feet, and have him wear socks to go to bed. It seems to quiet down the cough, and helps him have a good night sleep.

Purchase some ginger root, clean it, slice it into small pieces, and boil it in a pot of water. Drinking ginger tea warms the body, and settles the digestive tract. You can add a squeeze of lemon, and a tea spoon of honey if you don't like the ginger taste.

Purchase an inexpensive saline nasal spray and give your nose a quick spritz 2-3 times a day. The saline spray clears up your nasal passage and break up dry mucus. Icy, these are fantastic tips. I did not know about the salt for sore throats. The ginger root for upset stomach sounds great. I am the type that likes natural remedies so these are all greatly appreciated. Thanks, Icy.
ReplyDeleteI'll keep the cold tips. They will come in handy, I know that for sure. Thanks for these.
ReplyDeleteI love reading about home remedies. They always come in handy. I have a tip for a sore throat. You can gargle with a cup of vinegar. Put some water in the cup to dilute it then gargle with it. You might have to try it a couple of times, but it works.
ReplyDeleteIcy, I love natural remedies. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteI just came across the bromelaid in Meijer Sunday. I did not know the name, but found it on a tag. Yours were so much prettier. Thanks for your visit.
Thanks Icy, I needed those advise. Last week while I was battling with the flu virus I didn't take anything meds I just drank plenty of lukewarm water and it's gone in just 2 days! Wow! I never thought it would disappear that fast with just water!

How about a home remedy for a broken heart/life? :(
ReplyDeleteWow. good tips. One of the most effective traditional medicine that almost all Malaysians keep at home is the sea cucumber juice. It is effective for most minor ailments including stopping continuous minor bleeding.
ReplyDeleteWhat a nice way to round up all- some? your knowledge ;-)
ReplyDeleteSome very good tips here. I know about the rubbing of feet and wearing socks in bed. My mum did this when I was a child and I continued with my children. How it works, I don't know but working it does.
ReplyDeleteGreat tips. One I use is warm salt water for a sore throat, it always seems to work. I also have an aloe plant in my kitchen to use for burns.
