Pretty in Pink

As I'm going through my picture folders, I found many flowers that had been neglected and forgotten.

These flowers were also dated back in April, and I just love the deep pink color, with yellow in the middle. I know the name of these flowers, but at the moment, they have escaped my mind.

Beautiful Pink

April in Michigan was still very cold outside, so I must have stalked my supermarket for these pink flowers. I would like to say that they're related to lilies because they look like lilies, but I'm not sure.

Ready to Go Home

These flowers came in a bunch, and they were ready to go home if someone buy them. I love flowers, and I don't like to see them cut. I rather watch them grow and die naturally than in a vase. I'm weird that way!

Pick Me

If you've taken pictures in the market, you must have noticed how poor the lighting was in the market, and since they were for sale, these flowers cramped into a bucket of water. I just quickly took a few and went on my way.

Have a good day everyone!

Orchids

This is my second Mosaic Monday! I found these pretty orchids in my flowers folder, and think it's fun to put them together.

Butterflies' House

There is a butterfly's house at the Detroit Zoo, and it is one of the best attractions in our area. Last year, we enjoyed a day at the zoo with my kids, niece and nephew. Though at that time, my old camera used 2AA batteries, and they died after a few shots.

It was a nightmare using this kind of camera, and I bought only Duracell Copper Top for it. The camera was so unreliable with this type of battery. For the hours that we've spent in the butterflies' house, these seven photos were all I could get.

Orange Butterfly

There were so many different types of butterflies in this house, but there were also too many people and children. It was difficult to just get a picture of the butterfly without people in it. To top it all off, the workers were intensely watching over everyone's little move!

Only Closeup One

This butterfly landed right in front of me, and was my only closeup shot! I had hoped to go back on a less busy day, but my schedule didn't allow it this year.

Yellow and Green

The butterflies' house wowed many visitors, especially with the children! Their eyes lit up and they all had big smiles as soon they stepped inside. I saw butterflies landed on heads, shoulders, backs, and shirts if the people stood still long enough.

Brown One

After taking a few photos, I had to change batteries again! Sometimes, I reversed the batteries and was able to squeeze in a few more photos since I knew the batteries were not bad.

Colorful One

With the malfunction of the camera, I was not able to zoom in to any butterfly at all. As soon as I zoomed in, the camera went dead.

Human and Nature

After so much struggling with the camera, I decided to just enjoy the butterflies' house instead of trying to take pictures. If they landed in front of me, then they would become my object, otherwise, the camera stayed shut!

In Focus

This butterfly was the last shot on my camera! I've since replaced that camera with another one that using a flat rechargeable battery pack. It worked out much better and the battery lasts much longer.

Bring Back Spring Time

I pick up today theme from Tes at Craftista about Mosaic Monday, and since time is limited, I find this meme is perfect for me to join today.

I was wondering what to do with these photos that I took in early Spring, and since old man winter is around the corner, I am bringing back Spring with the hope to deter winter chill a little longer.

Today Pink Flowers

I don't know what these flowers are called, but by now you've probably figure it out that I am terrible with names.

I did make an effort though! I went to the nursery, aimed with a notebook and pen! I took the pictures then I looked up the name, and finally scribble it down in my notebook. Happily, I thought I had an organized system in place where I could easily refer back.

A Fly On Me

I was wrong! I had the notebook with dozens of names in it, but I didn't know which one is which anymore because I waited too long to download the pictures and labeled them.

So here I am, seeing these beautiful pink flowers and wondering what they are called. A fly was a surprise bonus! Yes, I would squash it if it is in my house, but on a flower it adds a fun interest to see.

Field of Flower Dream

These two tones pink color is absolutely gorgeous to see. My pictures didn't do them justice! On a second thought, after upload them on to my blog, the colors always seemed duller than my original ones anyway.

I love the center of these flowers! Without a close-up shot, it looks like the center of zinnia. If you want to see a better color of these flowers just click on the photos to enlarge. They had sharper colors there.

Blur It Out

I play around with this photo by using the water color effect, and contrast enhancement! This is just a beautiful field of pink flowers.

Yellow Flowers

We are experiencing the heat wave here in Metro Detroit, and I actually set out to go taking pictures at a park. However, it is so hot that I have to abandon the thought and rush home. The sun was so harsh for me to see what I am snapping at, and I came back with these two yellow flowers.

So here they are, yellow, beautiful like the sun shine, and represent a glorious day! Are these lilies?

SunFlowers

Last year for a Science Project, JoJo's school sent home a handful of sunflowers to grow for the summer. He was responsible to write down the day the seeds germinated, measure the growing process until the flowers bloomed, and measure the width of the flowers.

He recorded this process in a little note book, and turned it in to his teacher when school started again. Whoever had the biggest sun flowers would win a basket of books. JoJo's sunflowers were considered to be small when compared to others.

One Proud Farmer

All of the seeds that we sowed turning into these gigantic sun flowers, and they didn't take long to grow since we had good weather last year. To me, they were huge, but there were other sunflowers that were enormous.

The Huge Sun Flowers

You could tell how big these sunflowers were, and I couldn't believe how they turned out. They were very tall and bigger than any other sun flowers I have seen for a while.

Growing

We made a mistake by planting these sunflowers between the driveway and pathway to the garage. Once the flowers bloomed, we had a constant flight of bees, but we really had no other choice since this was the only spot that had sun light.

The Biggest Flower in the Bunch

We enjoyed growing these sunflowers, and watched them growing. At the first school open house, we had to dig the tallest and biggest plants out and brought them to school for display. It was quite a pleasant experiment for both of us.

Bees Attack

I didn't do a good job in taking pictures of these flowers, because the camera I had last year didn't have the zoom option. There were times when I could count at least ten bees on one of these giant flowers.

Facing the Sun

Towering over my head, this sunflower welcomed me every morning! I love sunflowers, and always thought that their bodies wouldn't be able to hold up their heads, but they did just fine.

We are growing some different sunflowers this year, and they are nothing like these ones. The weather has a lot to do with it this year, and I will post them soon.

Bee on Goldenrod

Along the fence of my yard, these goldenrods are blooming in numbers. They are bright yellow and attract nothing but bees and wasps. I tell the children to stay far away from these flowers, but I didn't follow my own rule.

When I come close to them, I find the bees are swamping all around, buzzing from one flower to the next. Their bodies are covered with yellow pollen.

Budding Flowers

This bright yellow color always calls for my attention, and for the longest time I tried to resist the temptation since I can see quite a numbers of bees flying around these flowers.

Caught One

This bee was huge, and he landed right in front of my camera just as I was snapping the picture! I stayed as still as I can with the hair on my back stood up while the loud buzzing noises was around me.

Then Another One

Every where my camera turned, there was another bee on the flower! It was a very busy day for the bees and the goldenrod. Different sizes and different types of bees came and went like a crowded open market.

My Bumble Bee Stung Me

Luckily, I told the boys to get far away from where I was taking pictures, and just as I turned around, one bee flied onto my upper lip, and stung me. Within seconds, my lip puffed up and turned colors. Well, for the rest of the day, I had the fattest lip in the world and I didn't even need plastic surgery to look this way...

One Last One

Yes, with that fat lip, I still went on to take pictures. It hurt and I was not allergic to bees, thanks goodness, but this last shot was worth my effort, since I can see the wings on this bee vividly.

I think it was just an accident that the bee stung me! He happened to fly to my lip, and he chose my upper lip to give the "Botox" injection!

In any case, Judy Sheldon has written an informative article on Goldenrod, which can be found here.

Have a fun day!

School Art Show

Two years ago at my son's elementary school, they put on a show of the children's art work. The first time they did this was fantastic. They showcased the best pieces, or whatever the theme happened to be that year, and hung them on the walls around the building for parents to enjoy while waiting for conference.

These photos below are about two years old, and I found them on my ancient computer. I love children's art work, and I have them hung around my house.

In just two years, JoJo has grown so much! He looks so young in this picture, and I am glad to have found these pictures in my old computer, because school had decided that the art show took too much work, and they stopped doing this.

Have a great weekend!
