Rhododendron or Azalea?

Early in the Spring, I saw many places that have this flowers. These flowers are in the Azalea or Rhododendron family, and they come in many different colors. I have seen these flowers growing in pink, purple and white.

At my dentist's office, these plants grow closer together to form a thick border, which was a spectacular view. The sea of blooming flowers adoring the building just took my breath away! However, I didn't know its name, still unsure about if it is Azalea or not.

White Azalea

I spotted this plant at a local nursery, and it was in the color of white. I look it up on Wikipedia, but the flower they've listed there doesn't look the same at these flowers.

Zooming In

I love the dedicate look of these flowers! At first, I looked up under Rhododendron, and thought that they are called Rhododendron, but again, the flowers are different!

In the Nursery

The nursery had a row of these white and pink flowers, but I forgot to bring my notebook. I thought I can rely on my memory, but once I was home, doing many other chores, my brain registered a blank page.

White Stars

These flowers have the shape of stars with five petals. Set me straight if you know the name! Sometimes, I just want to take pictures, and forget all about finding out the names. I am getting better though by trying to write down in my notebook, that's if I remember to bring the notebook!!!

  1. These pictures are beautiful. I love the flower's delicate look. Sorry, I don't know if the flower is a Rhododendron or an Azalea, but I would like to learn too.

  3. As I remember Azaleas are a member of the rhododendron family so there are some similarities. Those I am pretty sure are azaleas.

I did some research a while back on rhododendrons and ran across an Azalea Society of America. That might be a good place to find out which of the many varieties you have in the photos.

By any name that is a beautiful flower.
