Rhododendron or Azalea?
Early in the Spring, I saw many places that have this flowers. These flowers are in the Azalea or Rhododendron family, and they come in many different colors. I have seen these flowers growing in pink, purple and white.
At my dentist's office, these plants grow closer together to form a thick border, which was a spectacular view. The sea of blooming flowers adoring the building just took my breath away! However, I didn't know its name, still unsure about if it is Azalea or not.
White Azalea

I spotted this plant at a local nursery, and it was in the color of white. I look it up on Wikipedia, but the flower they've listed there doesn't look the same at these flowers.
Zooming In

I love the dedicate look of these flowers! At first, I looked up under Rhododendron, and thought that they are called Rhododendron, but again, the flowers are different!
In the Nursery

The nursery had a row of these white and pink flowers, but I forgot to bring my notebook. I thought I can rely on my memory, but once I was home, doing many other chores, my brain registered a blank page.
White Stars

These flowers have the shape of stars with five petals. Set me straight if you know the name! Sometimes, I just want to take pictures, and forget all about finding out the names. I am getting better though by trying to write down in my notebook, that's if I remember to bring the notebook!!!

These pictures are beautiful. I love the flower's delicate look. Sorry, I don't know if the flower is a Rhododendron or an Azalea, but I would like to learn too.
ReplyDeleteIcy, they sort of resemble azaleas but I don't know for sure. They are very pretty. Like you I go around and just take photos of everything I half the time don't know the names :)
ReplyDeleteAs I remember Azaleas are a member of the rhododendron family so there are some similarities. Those I am pretty sure are azaleas.
ReplyDeleteI did some research a while back on rhododendrons and ran across an Azalea Society of America. That might be a good place to find out which of the many varieties you have in the photos.
By any name that is a beautiful flower.
I've seen them in Holland's flower garden and I think they too resemble azaleas Icy and yet not so sure also. :) Whatever it is, it really looks so dainty and delicate, I really always think white flowers are so delicate. Have a nice weekend Icy.
ReplyDeleteTheir so pretty. I actually love white flowers. They are so soothing.
ReplyDeleteI should call you flower queen or flower fairy Icy, you truly bring out the beauty of each of them. i too don't know what they are exactly, but like what they say, azalea is a member of rhododendron family.
ReplyDeletelooks like gumamela in the philippines (unless they belong to one and the same family - sorry for the ignorance). very pristine in its beauty.
ReplyDeletenot so sure about the name too but they are undoubtedly beautiful white folwers! i always find it difficult to photograph white flowers as the outcome appears dull to me but yours are simply amazing! like betchai said, you truly bring out the beauty of each of them.
ReplyDeleteWhat beautiful flowers, Icy. You always take such beautiful pics.
