Unusual and Unique Plants

Looking through my hard drive, I found these wonderful and unique looking plants, and had no idea what their names are.

They are, of course, can be seen at Belle Isle Conservatory in early March. When I returned in April, they were not there anymore. The flowers had been long gone!

Curve Up In balls

I saw this branch full of red balls, and reached out onto walk way around the Conservatory! They look so strange, but amazing.

Amazing Opening

On this branch, most of the balls were open, and only a few balls were left at the very tip. I was trying to take the picture with a better background, but it didn't work out. The flowers didn't show up well.

What Is It?

You can see half of Jojo's face in this picture because he was as curious as I was when he walked up to it. It was wonderful to see something different!

All Gone

Here the flowers were all gone, and the branch just had these sticks left on it. I wish I had a couple of close up pictures, but my camera couldn't zoom in any more.

  2. I love the colors of these plants you found at the conservatory. The first one looks like a bottle brush bush about to bloom. They grew in our garden in California. I never noticed before how beautiful and unusual the buds look.

  3. Can't say that I know their names, hon. But they surely are pretty. I've just come back in from my own garden. It's a lovely day here.

  4. oh, i love it always you are showing us the flower's stages Icy. like Diane, though I saw a lot of that kind of flowers here in CA, but I never noticed how beautiful their buds are! I am paying more attention now, not only to the full blooms, but to the earl buds to the waning skeleton of the flower inspired by you.
