Fruit Trees at the Conservatory
I took my son to Belle Isle Conservatory after Sunday mass last week. I was in need for some quiet time with nature, and JoJo wanted to fish. I told him that he would have to put the worm on the hook for himself since I am terrified of this creature because of a really bad experience!
We agreed to go to the Conservatory first for the lighting was great in the mid-afternoon there, and his fishing excursion would follow after that.
We both had our own cameras, and off to adventure my son went! No, he was not allowed to wander off farther than my eyes can see. He was within distance of my reach!
Banana Tree

Look at this heavy branch of bananas! They almost touch the floor and still are so green. My son asked if we could eat something that grows in the flower greenhouse, and I said yes, though I had never tried before.
Half-Way Ripe

If you follow the beginning of that ripe banana at the branch from the top down, it looked like a half circle, and then ended with three orchids at the bottom. This banana branch was surrounded by orchids.
They Look Delicious

These bananas are ripe enough to eat. They are short and fat! I love these pictures of bananas JoJo took. They are refreshing to see!
Baby Pineapple

This baby pineapple tucked under a huge tree, and grew straight upward. I didn't see the crowd of this pineapple, and its top seemed to spread apart! This is a very strange one indeed!
Crowd of Pineapple

Now, this is what I am used to see how the pineapple looked like. It was fun to see fruit trees scattered around the greenhouse that mainly are flowers.
Full Grown

This full grown pineapple attracted many visitors. I couldn't even get near it to see for myself. JoJo, being small, weaved himself right into the front row for a close up.
Orange on the Ground

This orange was JoJo's excitement for the day! He ran back and forth to tell me there was an orange on the floor, and asked if he could take it home? Well, at the end he left it where it was and just took a picture of it instead.
Cherries?

I don't know what these berries are, but they look interesting. Some of the berries were also red, which could mean that they are cherries? When asking JoJo if he knows, he said "some kind of berries!" What a great help!
Many people I know thought that I'm crazy for taking my son to Detroit, and proudly told me that they would not venture there. I, on the hand, see no reasons why I should be afraid or stay away!
Life is full of surprises! If anything bad is going to happen, it could happen anywhere!

I love the saba banana, a lot of variety of menu can be done with them. So yummy if bananaqued...I'll have to show it someday on my food blog.
ReplyDeleteTerrific pictures from Bell Isle Conservatory! My favorites are the bananas with orchids, the pineapples and the orange.
ReplyDeleteI love perusing conservatories. That pineapple looks so refreshing. Even though you did not take the orange home you got a great shot of it :) By the way, my nickname is JoJo.
ReplyDeleteThese are great shots. The fruit looks really good. It seems like you and your son had a really good time. I've never been to a place like that before.
ReplyDeleteLove your pictures! Joey takes after his mom. Super job! I'm with you. Shoot I lived in the South Bronx for years. Should we curl up in fear some where or go on with our lives; after all you went in broad day light? If you had gone at 2:00 am then I could see the logic.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for sharing. This will be something Joey can look back at years later with fondness too!
love the banana pictures, and everything. glad to see you had fun there. it is so great your son shares your enthusiasm and excitement about nature and photography, he really has talent. don't know which one to choose here for favorite, but must admit, i really wish i can have some of those bananas.
